Membrane Filtration System
Ultrafiltration and microfiltration for fine particle removal and water recycling.
Membrane filtration removes particles, bacteria, and colloids that conventional sand filters can’t catch. The result: crystal-clear water suitable for recycling, cooling tower make-up, or further RO treatment.
Key Features
Superior Filtration
Removes particles down to 0.01 microns, including bacteria and viruses.
Automatic Operation
PLC-controlled backwash system runs 24/7 with minimal supervision.
Compact Design
Skid-mounted units save space and install in hours, not days.
Water Recycling
Treated water meets reuse standards for cooling, washing, and irrigation.

Applications
What Is Membrane Filtration System?
A membrane filtration system uses semi-permeable membrane fibers to separate particles, bacteria, and colloids from water at the microscopic level. Hollow fiber membranes with precise pore sizes act as physical barriers, allowing water molecules to pass through while trapping everything larger than the pore size.
Unlike conventional filtration that relies on gravity and media depth, membrane filtration achieves absolute separation based on size. This produces consistently high-quality effluent suitable for water reuse, RO pretreatment, and strict discharge standards.
- Removes bacteria, viruses, and colloids
- Produces water clear enough for reuse
- Fully automatic with self-cleaning backwash
Why Choose Our Membrane System?
Four advantages that set our membrane filtration systems apart from conventional treatment methods.
Superior Water Quality
Absolute filtration removes 99.9% of bacteria and particles down to 0.01 microns. Effluent turbidity below 0.1 NTU consistently.
Water Reuse Capability
Treated water meets reuse standards for cooling, washing, irrigation, and RO feed. Save 70-90% on freshwater costs.
Compact & Automated
Skid-mounted design with small footprint. PLC-controlled with automatic backwashing. Runs 24/7 with minimal operator attention.
Long Membrane Life
PVDF hollow fiber membranes last 3-5 years with proper maintenance. Chemical cleaning restores full flux when needed.
Three Levels of Membrane Filtration
Choose the membrane type based on your target water quality and what you need to remove.
UF Ultrafiltration
Pore size: 0.01-0.1 µm. Removes bacteria, viruses, colloids, and macromolecules. Produces crystal-clear water suitable for reuse and RO pre-treatment.
MF Microfiltration
Pore size: 0.1-1 µm. Removes suspended solids, bacteria, and large particles. More economical than UF when virus removal is not required.
NF Nanofiltration
Pore size: 0.001-0.01 µm. Removes hardness, heavy metals, and some dissolved organics. Ideal for water softening and partial desalination.

Common Questions About Membrane Filtration
Answers to frequently asked questions about our membrane filtration systems.
How long do the membranes last?
With proper pre-treatment and maintenance, PVDF hollow fiber membranes typically last 3-5 years. The actual lifespan depends on feed water quality, cleaning frequency, and operating conditions. We provide CIP (clean-in-place) systems to maximize membrane life.
What pre-treatment is required before membrane filtration?
We recommend pre-filtration to at least 100 microns, and ideally below 5 mg/L suspended solids. Depending on your raw water, this may include a DAF system, sedimentation tank, or multi-media filter. We design complete treatment trains including all pre-treatment steps.
What is the water recovery rate?
Typical recovery rates are 85-95%, meaning 85-95% of the feed water becomes clean permeate. The remaining 5-15% is concentrate (reject) that carries away the filtered contaminants. Higher recovery rates are possible with concentrate recycle options.
Can the system be installed outdoors?
Yes, but we recommend providing a shelter or equipment room to protect the membrane modules and electrical components from direct sun, rain, and freezing temperatures. We can design the skid for outdoor installation with appropriate insulation and heating where needed.
